 David C. Pruden
David has a B.S. from the University of Utah (honors graduate Sociology /Psychology). He has earned his post-graduate certificate from in California in Alternate Dispute Resolution from Dominican College. From Liberty University, he has a certificate of masters program Professional Counseling. He is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi, national academic honor society and Alpha Kappa Delta, sociological academic honor society.

David Pruden founded of the Family Mediation Center of Utah in 1991and is the Executive Director of Evergreen International, Inc. He is also a Life Member of the National Academy of Family Mediators. He is involved with and is a member of the Sociological Practice Association and the Children's Rights Council. In addition to his private family mediation practice, Dave is a trainer and instructor. David and his wife Ramona are the parents of three active children. They are involved with community and civic affairs in a number of organizations. He is the former Executive Director of the Utah Republican Party and the former Executive Secretary of the Utah Press (newspaper) Association.

Same-gender Attraction

The following is an outline of the presentation given by David Pruden in his lecture.

1. An overview of the LDS doctrinal understanding of the purpose of mortality.
2. Supporting scriptural and General Authority teachings on the importance of challenges in achieving personal growth.
3. Introduction of the concept that same-sex attraction is similar to other challenges individuals face in mortality.
4. A brief discussion of how various traumas and developmental challenges might lead to sexual confusion.
5. Four myths about same-sex attraction that keep people stuck and limit our ability to help.
6. How difficult it is like for a person experiencing same-sex attraction issues to seek help from church resources.
7. How we can assist members with same-sex attractions while staying faithful to the doctrines and standards of the church.
