BEFRIENDERS INTERNATIONAL
Befrienders International is a network of hundreds of befriending centers world-wide. These centers are run by trained volunteers and offer a service, which is free, non-judgmental and completely confidential. People are befriended by telephone, in face-to-face meetings, by letter and by email. The Befrienders has an excellent listing of resources for those who may be contemplating suicide! A list of crisis centers in United States, Canada and other countries is available. Suicide resources from Armenia to Zimbabwe are provided. This site is available in different languages. The Befrienders International also provides the world's most comprehensive suicide referral Website with over 1,700 suicide helplines and emotional first aid centers worldwide and on the Internet. AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SUICIDOLOGY
American Association of Suicidology is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the understanding and prevention of suicide. AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) was formed in 1986, a number of leading experts on suicide came together with business and community leaders and survivors of suicide to form the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. They believed that only a combined effort would make it possible to fund the research necessary for progress in the prevention of
suicide. A variety of excellent resources can be found from this organization.
