Eating
disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating
disorder. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are characterized by fear
of weight gain, feelings of ineffectiveness and low self-esteem.
Binge-eating disorder, or compulsive eating, is described as food intake
that tends to be emotionally "driven" to the point of physical
discomfort and is typically experienced as comforting to the person.
Eating disorders are considered mental illnesses.
