DIVORCE AND BLENDED FAMILIES

Divorce is the legal ending of a marriage. The divorce process typically includes: termination of a marriage, allocating parental rights and responsibilities, ordering the payment of child support, ordering the payment of spousal support, providing for the division of marital property, distributing marital debts and assets, and dealing with the emotional concerns of those involved. Blended family also known as a stepfamily, occurs when two people marry and have at least one child who is the biological child of only one parent. Resolving conflicts and power struggles associated with “his” and “her” children can be a challenging.
