PRESENTATION OVERVIEW
The Addiction Cycle: An LDS Model

SUMMARY
        This presentation teaches the three stages of addiction. The spiritual nature of addiction is emphasized. This model can be used to better understand addiction for substances (like alcohol) and activities (like gambling). General authority quotes and scriptures are used.

OBJECTIVES
        The Addiction Cycle: An LDS Model has two main objectives including: (1) teaching the spiritual nature of addiction; teaching the entire addiction process including the "first season" of "joy;" and (2) offering a message of hope to those affected by various addictions. 

APPROPRIATE AUDIENCE
        Ideal for youth ages 12 and up, parents, and church leaders.

SUGGESTED PRESENTER QUALIFICATIONS
        The presenter can be either a mental health professional with experience in counseling individuals with addiction problems or an individual who has had a personal experience in addiction recovery.

TIME REQUIREMENTS
        This presentation has only one lesson. Typically the presentation takes about 60-90 minutes. However, it can be adapted to fit even a 30 minute time period.
